An Affordable Mercury-Free Dentist in Mesa
Did you know that traditional silver fillings contain more mercury than actual silver? Dental amalgam — commonly known as silver fillings — can consist of up to 50% mercury. At Central Valley Dentistry, we proudly practice mercury-free dentistry, recommending white composite fillings over conventional silver fillings.
Not only do composite fillings provide a more natural and seamless appearance, but they also help strengthen your tooth structure while being completely mercury-free. In the comparison below, you can see the difference: on the left is an amalgam (silver) filling, and on the right is an aesthetically pleasing white composite filling completed by our experienced mercury-free dentist.

Composite Fillings Are Mercury-Free
There’s growing awareness about the potential safety concerns surrounding “silver fillings,” also known as amalgam fillings, due to their mercury content. Despite their name, amalgam fillings actually contain more mercury than silver.
At Central Valley Dentistry, we offer white composite fillings — a safer and more advanced alternative to traditional silver fillings. Composite fillings not only provide a natural, tooth-colored appearance but also bond securely to your teeth for added strength and durability. As a mercury-free dental practice, we proudly support your choice for healthier, more biocompatible dental care.

FAQs
Where is mercury used in dental procedures?
Many people are unaware that traditional silver amalgam fillings contain a substantial amount of mercury. At Central Valley Dentistry, we prioritize your safety and oral health, which is why we avoid mercury-based materials. Our mercury-free dentists recommend modern alternatives that are safer and more natural-looking.
Is mercury present in the human body?
Yes, trace amounts of mercury can exist in the human body — but exposure to higher levels is toxic. Studies have identified over 100 physical symptoms linked to mercury exposure, which can affect vital organs and overall wellness. Choosing mercury-free dentistry helps reduce unnecessary exposure.
What are the benefits of mercury-free fillings?
Mercury-free options, such as composite resin and porcelain, are bonded directly to your teeth for a secure, natural-looking fit. They’re resistant to temperature changes, don’t corrode, and are biocompatible — providing durability, comfort, and excellent long-term results.
Is the procedure safe?
Absolutely. Our mercury-free treatments at Central Valley Dentistry are completely safe, designed to restore your smile while protecting your overall health and preserving your tooth’s natural strength.
Are there fillings without mercury?
Yes — modern composite (white) fillings are entirely mercury-free. They’re durable, blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, and provide a beautiful, long-lasting restoration.
Do all dental fillings contain mercury?
No. Only traditional silver amalgam fillings contain mercury. At Central Valley Dentistry, we exclusively use mercury-free materials to ensure your smile remains both healthy and natural-looking.
